Introduction to Plant, Range and Soil Science Course Objectives

 
1.  To develop an appreciation of the importance of plants to mankind as a source of food, feed and fiber.

2.  To appreciate the role of soil and plants as  natural resources that provide humans many valuable services.    

3.  To develop your professional knowledge about both scientific and social issues in crop, range and soil sciences. 

4.  To develop organization and thinking skills that will help you gather, sort and synthesize information as first step to solving problems.

5.  To understand the effects of biotic and abiotic factors on plant growth.

 
6.   To develop an understanding for reasons for the methods and procedures by which plants are grown and propagated.

7. To identify major crops and weeds important to the Southern Great Plains.
